Bayani Challenge 2014

WALANG IWANAN! HUHA! That was the words we kept on shouting when we are in Tanauan, Leyte for Bayani Challenge 2014. It is one of the project of a non government organization namely Gawad Kalinga. It is an annual 5-day test of endurance, courage, camaraderie, and love for country. Volunteers from different places in the country go on an adventure to work together towards the goal of expressing their love for their country and caring for the needy by building homes, repairing schools, medical missions, tree plating, paraisong pambata (activities for the kids) and many more.

Photo collage of the different activities that we did during our 3-day stay in Tanauan, Leyte.
Supposedly we're going to stay in Leyte for 5 days but due to some problems we only stayed there for 3 days. But I can say that so far it was the most memorable, fulfilling and meaningful summer experience ever. I experienced a lot of unforgettable moments during the whole Bayani Challenge. That was my first time to ride on a military plane, it feels like you're riding in an elevator/Lrt train when you're inside the C130 and that was the most awesome 1 1/2 hour ride ever! \m/ The 6x6 military truck is our service whenever we will go to the build site in Brgy. Pago. We went to the beach to clean it and after that we swim and relaxed to relieved our tiredness.  I also manage to mixed and shoveled sand and gravel to help build the houses of the Yolanda survivors in Barangay Pago. It's also my first time to carry hallow blocks, bucket and sacks that is full of mud and sand. I was able to see personally the coconut trees, cornfield, rice field, houses and establishments that up until now is still destroyed, the children who are still in shock and trauma, the number of families that are still living in the tent houses inside the schools and covered court, the people who are experiencing hunger because of lack of food, and I heard different stories from the Taclobanons who experienced the onslaught of the killer Typhoon Yolanda.

Even though I lack of sleep, loose weight, get my skin even darker, felt tired and feel pain all over my body, I don't regret anything and I will absolutely not repent everything that has happened in Bayani Challenge 2014. And I will surely and definitely Volunteer again next year.

Time Management 101

www.mindmapart.com
Time Management is about making conscious decisions on how to spend your time wisely. As a human being we are not capable of doing multiple things at once because I believe that there is no such thing as "Multitasking" so we have to prioritize the things that are important to us. Choosing one thing means leaving two things undone that's why we should choose wisely. I have here number of guidelines that might help you on managing your precious time wisely, they are as follows:

1. First things First

  • You should know your priorities. You can only make wise choices on what to do first and what to leave undone if you know the things that are important and least important in your personal and school life. Take the time to think deeply on the things that makes you happy, satisfied and fulfilled, then you can now choose to align you daily activities with this overall sense of purpose.
2. Have a daily "to do" lists

  • Make a list of tasks that you will do for the day and allot a specific time in your planner to do each task. You should also make sure that your priorities are on top of the lists. And never ever over schedule your time.
3. Manage your energy levels

  • Take a power nap. Eat healthy foods. Have an exercise. Whenever you feel fatigue or tired, you should take time to rest or play, they are not a luxury but it is a necessity to avoid burn out. It will also help to refresh your mind for you to have good products or outcome.

My Best friend

http://www.bubblews.com/news/275574-god-is-my-bestfriend
I've been searching for so long
because I don't know where I belong,
then you came in my life
you lift me up and fill the emptiness inside.

I never felt scared of being alone
because I know you will not leave me alone.
You showed me the right way,
helping and guiding me everyday.

To be your friend is not what I deserved
'coz I am a sinner and sometimes not your believer;
But you accepted me wholeheartedly
and your love for me is unconditionally.

I'm always thankful to have you in my life,
You're not only my best friend but also the redeemer of life.
I LOVE YOU GOD WITH ALL MY HEART
and I will worship you 'till the last beat of my heart.

I made this poem last year, for an assignment to our poetry class. I think it only took me an hour  or so to finish this poem... I don't know what happened to me that time or maybe I'm just so inspired. Hahaha! Thank you for reading! Have a good day. God bless! :)
